Chania City How to get there

The city is served by Chania International Airport (IATA code: CHQ) on the Akrotiri Peninsula.

There are three possible ways for arriving to Chania by air :

  • Direct flight from Hometown to Chania (wherever is possible)
  • Flight from Hometown to Athens and then Chania
  • Flight from Hometown to Iraklion, Crete, and then by bus or taxi to Chania

 

From the airport you can get to the city only by cab. It takes from 15 to 30 minutes and costs 15-20 Euros.

Iraklion is 145km (90miles) from Chania. The urban bus fare is 9,4? and takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. The taxi costs approximately 140?. The Urban bus station in Chania is only 5? walk from the venue of the Great Arsenali and the conference hotels.

Within the city most sites are accessible by foot while public transports are recommended for more distant places.

Chania can be also reached by boat from Piraeus, Athens with ANEK LINES. Anek Lines trip lasts approximately 9 hours. There is a departure daily, usually at 20:00 o?clock from Piraeus, but please check the time-table online.

The city's port is located in Souda where ferries offer trasportation from and to Pireus daily.
